ABOUT kathryn
Since the late 1970’s, I have been a documentary photographer. My first serious photographs were of The Women’s Pentagon Action in 1980. In the following years I continued photographing the women’s and peace movements, members of my family, and also began exploring street photography in the tradition of Helen Levitt and Henri Cartier Bresson. Since 1985 I have had the privilege to live in and photograph the great beauty, diversity and complexity of New York City.
Education:
I earned a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MFA in Photography from The University of Massachusetts and Hampshire College. I taught undergraduate classes in photography at Hampshire during my tenure there.
This and That
Through this website, I hope to organize, present, and preserve some of what I have seen and photographed during my life.
